Former Melfort Mustangs defenceman, Hayden Tuba, has committed to Marian University for the 2023/24 season.
He joins a long list of former Stangs to join the Sabres, which include Seth McCulloch, Nolan Kadachuk, Adam Nobes, Alex Rondeau, and Austin Nault.
“I am very excited to be playing for Marian next year,” Tuba said. “They have a new coaching staff that puts great importance on a winning culture and team. The team is looking great for the upcoming season and I’m excited to get started in September.”
The South Delta, B.C. product, joined the Mustangs prior to the 2021/2022 season and in his first year in Melfort, scored three goals, and added 15 assists in 38 games. Unfortunately, he did not participate in the playoffs that season due to injury.
This past season, the six-foot-two, 185-pounder suited up for 48 contests, scoring 10 times while adding 25 helpers for 35 points. He would go on to add one assist in 10 playoff games.
Prior to his time with the blue and green, Tuba played parts of three seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) between 2018 and 2021 with the Coquitlam Express and Surrey Eagles. He played a total of 18 games in the league, earning three apples.
The Marian University Sabres are part of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and play out of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
