Applications are now open for a number of money saving opportunities for Cumberland College students.
New this year for the 2021-2022 school year, Cumberland College has introduced five $1,000 tuition rebates for those who have been admitted to a Cumberland College certificate, diploma or trades program.
“We’re looking at new ways to promote our program and help students at the same time,” said business development manager Brenda Mellon. “So we thought that this would be a great financial incentive for students.”
Mellon added that with the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been job losses and people might be looking to head back to school.
“Often when there’s a change in the economy, people look at different career options,” she said. “And we’re really pleased to be able to provide lots of different programs that are available locally here in the community.”
The rebates will be awarded based on a draw and the deadline to apply will be March 31.
On top of tuition rebates, applications are also open for Cumberland’s Entrace Scholarships. There’s over $50,000 worth of $2,000-scholarships available for applicants based off of their academic marks when they apply to their program.
The Alex Prytula Award is for Indigenous university students and the deadline to apply for that scholarship is March 21. All other applicants have until April 30.
Mellon added that anyone who needs assistance in applying for the scholarships, or have questions about anything related to going to school at Cumberland College, can contact the school’s academic advisors.
