The Melfort Rotary Club is celebrating the founder of the organization, Paul Harris, with a series of awards and a special event.
On Feb. 22, local Rotarians are gathering to share excitement about their accomplishments over the year while also looking at what’s to come.
Not only will there be a special dinner for all of those who have contributed to Rotary’s success but a prominent member of the Rotary Foundation will be making a special appearance via Zoom.
Gailmarie Anderson, chair of public relations, told northeastNOW special guest Ingrid Neitsch has a wide reach in the Rotary club.
“She is the foundation chair for zones 32 and 28. So a great big area in Canada and the U.S.,” she said.
In addition to having a big name in the Rotary community speak to guests, three members of the club will also receive Paul Harris awards.
Anderson said not only are members being recognized but an organization is also being honoured.
“We’re giving out a Paul Harris award. It is $1,000. We are also doing a community Paul Harris to Pattison Media.”
For an individual Rotarian to be awarded a Paul Harris they need to accumulate 1,000 points through various rotary activities but for the community award, the meaning is a bit more sentimental.
“Pattison Radio has always been very kind to us, and helped us out and promoted everything Rotary. So we just want to say thank you and do a Paul Harris in their honour,” she said.
Editor’s Note: northeastNOW is a division of Pattison Media.
