The provincial and federal governments are providing funds for 12 Saskatchewan projects under the Rural and Northern Communities Infrastructure Stream through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
Locally, there are a few projects getting some funds, including the Hamel Bridge in the RM of Bjorkdale.
“It’s an existing timber bridge,” said minister of Highways and Infrastructure Fred Bradshaw. “It’s going to be replaced with new precast concrete and steel.”
Bradshaw added that as the province continues to invest in highways and infrastructure, this is another way to help get the province out of the pandemic.
“We want to see our economy improve,” he said. “And one of the ways we improve the economy is by improving the transportation network.”
The Hamel Bridge replacement will be funding with $500,000 from the Rural Municipality, $333,300 from the province, and $166,670 from the federal government.
Meanwhile, two culverts in the RM of Torch River are getting funding as well. The C and D culverts on the Snowden Grid are getting replaced with $54,995 coming from the federal government, $110,005 coming from the province, and $165,000 from the RM. The canyon culvert on the White Fox grid is also getting replaced with some of this funding as well with $36,663 from the federal government, $73,337 coming from the province, and the remaining $110,000 coming from the RM.
