A Porcupine Plain Farmer is in some more hot water after an incident in 2018.
Alex Potoreyko has been found guilty of two charges and a warrant is now out for his arrest after he did not attend court on June 22 in Hudson Bay.
His charges relate to allowing an animal to be in distress, and not following a Corrective Action Order under the Animal Protection Act. A Corrective Action Order includes essentially fixing the issues with an individual’s cattle within a two-week period.
The charges stem from an October 2018 incident where Porcupine Plain RCMP were called about cattle being at large. Animal Protection was brought in to investigate as well and found that some of the cattle were lame, and were not weight-bearing.
Potoreyko previously was sentenced to a 10-year prohibition that includes owning, possessing, or having custody and control of cattle after a 2017 incident. He was also fined as part of that and has appealed his prohibition.
He has also been charged with Fail to Comply with an order which was from 2018.
