As part of its annual tradition, the City of Melfort is pleased to present the Twinkle tour this year.
Wednesday is the last day to submit your home for the interactive map and be eligible to win gift cards to local businesses.
Shannon Marshall, recreation aquatics manager with the City of Melfort told northeastNOW the response from the community has been very positive.
“I think it’s not about winning the prize is just kind of showing off your festive spirit for the holiday season.”
The two grand prizes include the Communities in Bloom award and the People’s Choice award. Each winner will receive a $150 gift certificate to a local business.
Everyone who enters will be put into a draw for one of four $100 gift certificates to a local business.
To begin the festive tour, the Kerry Vickar Centre is opening its doors for everybody to grab a map and a cup of hot chocolate beginning on Thursday.
For opening night on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., a special guest is making a trip from the North Pole. Mrs. Claus will be meeting those wanting to spread Christmas cheer.
If you want something interactive while touring the lights around the city, a Twinkle Tour bingo card will be handed out.
Marshal said that all light connoisseurs will also be given the opportunity to share feedback on the displays.
“So people will be able to text in their favourite address. There are lots of different ways to kind of be involved.”
People hoping to enjoy some holiday cheer will find 65 different entries in the contest.
Regardless of the size of the display, Shannon reminds everyone to register to help spread joy in the community.
“We do want to encourage everybody that has one string or 100 strings no matter what you have, you should enter.”
