One person has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Megan Gallagher.
Saskatoon Police announced this afternoon that a 27-year-old man was arrested by British Columbia RCMP at a home in Prince George.
He will be brought back to Saskatoon for a court appearance later this week.
This is the fifth person to be charged in the death of Gallagher, who went missing almost two years ago. The man is the only one to face a murder charge but has not yet been identified by RCMP.
Gallagher’s remains have not been located. Saskatoon Police began investigating her disappearance as a homicide several months after she was reported missing.
Four other suspects were charged with committing an indignity to human remains, including John Wayne Sanderson of James Smith Cree Nation.
Sanderson was arrested in James Smith.
Also charged are Roderick William Sutherland, 44, Jessica Sutherland, 42, and Ernest Whitehead, 41.
Roderick Sutherland was arrested in the Prince Albert area this summer, while Jessica Sutherland was arrested near Onion Lake.
Whitehead, who lives in Saskatoon, was the first to be charged.
As police continue to search for Gallagher’s remains, investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward with any tips they may have. Contact the SPS at 306-975-8300 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
