Despite some small setbacks, the annual Panhandler Golf Tournament was a success this past weekend.
The event is a major fundraiser for the Nipawin Region Health Foundation and executive director, Lewis Robin, shared how the event went.
“It was a beautiful day. Unfortunately, we had a number of teams that were unable to attend last minute. We did end up with 68 golfers. Everybody really enjoyed the day. We raised approximately $18,000.”
Those funds will go towards the new day surgery unit at the Nipawin Hospital.
“SHA is looking to expand that department so they can increase the number of surgeries that are occurring in that facility and the foundation has agreed to help support with the equipment purchases.”
Plans for next year’s tournament will start in the fall and Robin said there are a few things they hope to tweak before next summer.
All in all, he’s thankful for the amazing support the foundation received through this tournament.
“We are very appreciative for all the support we received from both the people out gathering pledges as well as the participants and sponsors.”
