Many local high schools will celebrate graduation tomorrow.
Melfort, Humboldt, Nipawin, and Tisdale will all celebrate in one way or another.
Graduates won’t experience the same large-scale ceremonies that may have been held prior to the pandemic but they will experience in-person events rather than virtual ones.
Melfort and Unit Comprehensive Collegiate
A drive-thru graduation is open to the public from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to decorate their vehicles as well as bring posters to cheer on graduates.
Graduates will be lined up on Assiniboia St. while vehicles will parade by starting at the corner of Bemister Ave. and Assiniboia.
In the event of poor weather, graduates will be in the Kerry Vickar Centre for a private parade but numbers are limited.
With Environment Canada calling for 32 and a mix of sun and cloud, the weather will likely not be an issue.
Humboldt Collegiate Institute
A drive-by procession is also happening in Humboldt starting at 6 p.m.
Vehicles can access the entrance at 17th street from the south end. RCMP have advised staying off of highway 5 due to highway traffic speed.
Drive-by attendants will exit to the south, through the testing site in reverse, going out on Leo Parker way to 5th Ave.
It is expected that the drive-by will conclude between 7 and 7:30 p.m.
L.P. Miller Comprehensive School
In Nipawin, graduates will have a ceremony celebration but numbers will be limited.
The class is being split into two groups. Group A consist of students with last names A to Mach. Group B is students with last names MacL to Z.
The ceremony will be live-streamed from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the link will be posted to the school’s website.
Tisdale Middle and Secondary School
A ceremony will be held in the auditorium at 2:30 p.m.
Parents will be seated 10 at a time to watch grads walk across the stage for a grand march and pick up their diploma.
The rest of the ceremony is the graduates only in the theatre, parents watching the live-streams from the auditorium. Each family will get a zoom link so other family members can watch live from home.
There will be no parade happening, but photos of each graduating student will line Main St. in Tisdale starting on Thursday.
