Tim Horton’s Camp Day goes ahead today across Canada.
All proceeds of coffee and iced coffees will once again go toward the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.
Camp Day is typically held in June but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tisdale Tim Hortons owner Jenna Grant said the camps are fun but also very educational.
“It’s leadership skills and helping them with tools that they may not get on their own and show them how they can improve their lives by working hard and using the skills they learn at the camp,” Grant said.
Last year, two children within the Tisdale area were sent to camp in Alberta thanks to the funds collected. The Melfort restaurant sent two kids to camp as well.
This year’s camp will be virtual rather than physical. The eCamps kicked off in July where campers are grouped into eCabins and are being supported and guided by trained eCounsellors to build social, emotional and developmental skills.
Tims camps support kids throughout their youth between the ages of 12 to 16.
On a typical year, Camp day would include different activities at the restaurant including a barbecue but those are not happening with public health guidelines and restrictions in place.
Camp day bracelets will also be for sale for $2 each with four colours available.
“Coffee lovers can also round up their change and that will all directly go to camp as well,” Grant said.
